The Undisposable Disposibles

Convenience is the way of life at MANAGE but sometimes it might be good for all of us to bear a bit of inconvenience. I am not talking of writing exams on our own so please dont reject the idea outrightly.
I think we have been overusing plastic glasses and cups for tea, coffee, water and what not. We even do not oppose the caterer in that. Plastics are envoronmental hazard as well as health hazard for all of us. In my personal capacity I wd. request u all to bring down its use. U can also suggest how we can bring down the usage and if u all wd. co-operate we can even stop using it at MANAGE.
May be this a the small committment we can show towards the serene surroundings of MANAGE.
HAPPY Republic Day.

With a broader perspective of keeping the surroundings of MANAGE clean, I suggest we take up an initiative to install some dustbins at various places. I suppose we can solicit the administration's support for the finances. Even during the 11.00 pm tea, we throw away the cups in the boyzone or other places. This is not expected of a responsible corporate citizen.

ya, I too agree with this but all initiative has to come from our side. Some of us can take up this matter with the student food committee. They r probably the right people to take this forward.
Moreover we must now learn to reach those dustibins as and when they are installed(some are already there).
Crux is we sd reduce plastic use.

Instead of reducing y not go with a total ban on use of plastics for food items .......

Well Unless we all do not want who will ban?
We sd rather start not asking for plastics but for clean cups and glasses.
And slowly we can stop using it altogether.
Some of our friends are of the view that when we use plastic we save water spent in washing them.
Well I havent found any such literature which says saving water by using plastics is more ecofriendly.
I remember when we came we always preferred drinking in china cups and glass tumblers. This habit of using plastics has entered inadvertently and we have started felin it to be normal which is not.
I am already seeing some positive action by some of our mates on personal front. Only more of you need to join.
